Get ready to dive into the Dragonbond universe, where the pursuit of power is the only law! In *Dragonbond: Lords of Vaala*, you can take on the role of a formidable dragon, laying waste to everything in your path, or lead armies as a cunning general, expanding your dominion. The objective is simple, but the journey is complex: accumulate 10 Power tokens and claim your destiny in a world devoid of gods. But here's the twist: a general and a dragon who peacefully meet in the same region can form a bond, becoming 'Dragonbonded'. This unlocks unique abilities and transforms them into a team, though ultimate victory requires both players to accumulate a total of 20 power points together. The planning phase is a spectacle, with players secretly programming their actions through cards, creating a queue of moves and attacks that will be revealed and resolved in sequence. It's like chess with surprises! Actions include moving across the board, attacking, collecting power, or casting powerful spells by spending the power you already possess. Combat is thrilling, featuring dice rolling, critical hits, and the possibility of counterattacks and strategic retreats. If power is scarce, you can even steal from an opponent if you are more effective in combat. Dragons and generals offer entirely distinct gameplay experiences. Generals focus on raising and customizing armies to control regions and harvest power, while dragons gain power by devouring units but must manage their health and rest after injuries. And to add that special touch, each character has their own unique Vaala spell deck, ensuring every game is a new tactical adventure.
