About the game

What you do in a play session

Endeavor: Age of Sail – Seize Your Fate Mini‑Expansion adds six new nation tiles, six Fate cards and five wooden monuments to the base game, letting you command one of six powerful maritime empires—England, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, or the Ottoman Empire—and tailor your tactics to each nation’s unique starting bonuses. The core loop of exploration, trade and diplomacy remains intact, but the fresh cards give you extra strategic options and the monuments introduce a new layer of long‑term influence.

At the start of each era, each nation receives a set of Fate cards that can alter the course of the game. Some grant immediate resources or movement, while others can reshape the map or even cancel opponents’ actions. Picking the right Fate card at the right moment can mean the difference between a steady march toward glory and a sudden setback. In addition, each nation can perform a series of nation‑specific actions—such as building a new port, recruiting a fleet or negotiating a treaty—each of which expands that country’s capabilities and brings you closer to the ultimate goal: raising a Monument.

Monuments are wooden tokens that you place on one of your cities. Once a Monument is erected, it is immune to attacks and provides a permanent influence bonus that helps you secure control of the surrounding area. The influence mechanic is central to the game; the player who controls the majority of a region gains influence points, which can be converted into victory points or used to trigger special abilities. The expansion also introduces new Open Drafting elements: at the beginning of each round, players draft Fate cards from a shared pool, allowing for a dynamic and interactive decision‑making process.

The component quality is solid—brightly illustrated tiles, sturdy wooden pieces and a clear rulebook that keeps the learning curve moderate. With 60‑90 minutes of play and a 3/5 weight rating, this mini‑expansion is a great way to add fresh content for both new and veteran players. It appeals to fans of historical strategy games who enjoy a mix of exploration, influence battles and a touch of luck with the Fate cards. If you’re looking to deepen your “Endeavor” experience without buying a full expansion, “Seize Your Fate” is a smart, budget‑friendly choice.
