Game Objective

Welcome to the 100th anniversary of Everdell! The king and queen are hosting a year-long celebration called the Bellfaire. Players work to build their cities and participate in the festivities. The goal is to earn the most points through city building and achieving specific goals to claim victory.

Setup

Before starting, players must choose which optional modules to include. The setup varies based on these choices:

  • Bellfaire Board: This flat board can be used instead of the 3D Ever Tree. Place workers in the Season locations at the top and Special Events at the bottom. The deck can be placed on the Ever Tree stump or to the side.
  • Player Boards: Players choose a board to store their resources, workers, and point tokens.
  • Forest Locations: Shuffle the 4 new Forest Cards into the existing deck of Forest locations.
  • Special Events: These can be added by shuffling them into the full Special Events deck, drawing 2 Bellfaire Special Events and 2 others, or using only the Bellfaire Special Events.
  • Flower Festival Event: Place this basic Event tile beside the main board or on the designated space on the Bellfaire board.
  • Garland Awards: Shuffle the Garland Award Tiles and draw 1, placing it beside the main board or on the Bellfaire board.
  • Market: Place the Market board beside the main board or use the Market area on the Bellfaire board. Place the 4 Market tokens on the “gain” side.
  • Player Powers: Each player is dealt 2 Player power Cards, chooses 1 to use, and returns the other to the box.

Actions and How to Play

The Market

When placing a worker in the Market, you must choose one of two options:

  • Gain: Choose an available token, gain the listed resources and cards, and then move that token to the “trade” side.
  • Trade: Pay the resources and discard the amount of cards listed on any token currently on the “trade” side. In return, gain 3 point tokens and 2 of any resources from the supply. Then, move the token back to the “gain” side.

Restriction: You may only have up to 1 worker deployed to the Market at a time.

Flower Festival Event

To achieve this basic Event, you must have 1 of each of the 5 card colors in your city and place a worker on the event to claim it.

Player Powers

Player Powers are additions to the normal rules and are not considered “card-playing abilities.” Note that when using Player Powers, you do not gain a worker when you Prepare for spring. Available powers include:

  • Axolotls: Place 1 “any” resource token on each Basic location. When visiting a Basic location, gain that token (usable once as any resource).
  • Cardinals: Hand limit increased by 2. After drawing cards, you may draw 1 additional card.
  • Foxes: When placing a worker on a Forest location, you may instead activate any non-permanent location where an opponent has a worker (excludes Cemetery).
  • Hedgehogs: Gain 1 berry if you didn't gain one from a Basic or Forest location. When playing a Construction, 2 berries can replace 1 resource in the cost.
  • Lizards: Draw 3 unused Forest locations at the start of each season; choose 1 to play in your area (only you may visit it).
  • Mice: After visiting a Basic or Forest location, gain 1 of any resource you do not already have.
  • Moles: When gaining resources from a location, you may pay up to 1 of those resources to gain 1 pebble.
  • Otters: Use resin as any resource when playing a Construction.
  • Owls: Hand limit increased by 1. After placing a worker, you may discard 1 card and/or draw 1 card. If you give a drawn card to an opponent, draw 2 cards.
  • Platypuses: Start with five 1-point tokens. Pay 1 token to gain 1 of any resource and draw 1 card from the deck or Meadow.
  • Rats: Place the Rugwort token on a Meadow card. When that card is played, gain 1 of any resource you don't have and move the token to a different Meadow card.
  • Squirrels: Gain 1 additional twig when gaining at least 1 twig. When playing a Construction, 2 twigs can replace 1 resource in the cost.
  • Starlings: Hand limit increased by 3. May draw from the deck, the Meadow, or a combination of both.
  • Toads: When playing a Production card, discard 1 card to activate the Production card twice (limit 1 time per card).
  • Turtles: After playing a card, place 1 resource on your Player Power card. If a resource is already there, gain that resource back plus 1 more of the same type.

5-6 Player Adjustments

  • Do not gain a worker when you Prepare for spring.
  • Hand limit is 7 cards.
  • Starting cards: 1st/2nd players (5), 3rd/4th players (6), 5th/6th players (7).
  • Discard all cards in hand after passing at the end of the game.

End of Game and Scoring

Consulte o manual para detalhes sobre a trigger de fim de jogo e a pontuação geral. However, the Garland Awards provide the following:

  • The player with the most cards of the type listed on the Garland gains 6 points.
  • The second-place player gains 3 points.
  • Ties for first or second both receive the listed bonus.
  • Requirement: Your city must contain at least 1 of the listed card types to be eligible.

Tips for Winning

  • Resource Flexibility: Use Player Powers like the Otters (resin as any resource) or Hedgehogs and Squirrels (using berries or twigs to replace costs) to play Construction cards more efficiently.
  • Hand Management: If playing as Starlings or Cardinals, leverage your increased hand limit to hold more options and draw more frequently.
  • Strategic Positioning: As a Fox, use your ability to activate opponent's locations to gain access to powerful effects without needing to occupy the location yourself.
