Forum Trajanum

In Forum Trajanum each player takes the helm of a Roman colony founded by Emperor Trajan himself. The double goal is to develop your own city—building structures, laying out streets, and expanding territory—while also feeding the emperor’s massive Forum project, destined to become the greatest monument the empire has ever seen. The board is a square grid where players place terrain and building tiles according to fitting rules that create scoring patterns. Every colony comes with a unique variable power, giving each participant a distinct strategic flavor. As the term progresses, players must juggle internal expansion against the need to contribute resources to the imperial Forum, forcing tough choices: grow your own metropolis or sacrifice part of it to speed up the emperor’s construction? At game’s end the player who has contributed the most to the Forum—measured by support points and colony development—joins the elite circle surrounding Trajan. The game blends tile placement, grid‑puzzle solving, and variable player powers, delivering a 60‑120 minute experience for 2‑4 players with a moderate complexity (weight 3.4/5).
