About the game
What you do in a play session
Funkoverse Strategy Game: DC Comics 101 drops you straight into the clash of heroes and villains on a board that pulses with comic‑book energy. Instead of rolling dice to decide what happens, you control each character with an Action‑Point system that gives you two actions per turn. Movement, challenges, and of course the special abilities that can only be used when you spend ability tokens. The trick lies in the cooldown mechanic: the more powerful the ability, the longer it stays unavailable. This forces you to plan carefully when to use each power, avoiding wasteful token use in the wrong moments.
Every character has its own set of abilities, and the game encourages you to experiment with different combos. You can build a team of Robin and Catwoman, but you can also add other characters from later expansions to create unexpected synergies. The challenge doesn’t end with the first match: there are four different scenarios – each with distinct objectives – that require different strategies. In one scenario you may need area control; in another, direct damage to the opponent. This keeps the game fresh and rewarding, even in short 20‑minute sessions or marathon 60‑minute games.
The components are simple yet elegant. Detailed miniatures represent each hero, while ability tokens and action dice add variety to the pace of play. The artwork brings vibrant colors reminiscent of comic pages, and the board design makes grid movement clear and easy to plan routes and positions.
Funkoverse Strategy Game: DC Comics 101 is a stand‑alone set, but it’s designed to be combined with other Funkoverse sets. That means as you collect more, you can trade characters, adapt strategies, and explore new scenarios. For comic‑book fans looking for a strategy game that blends tactics, collectibility, and quick fun, this title is a solid pick.
