Gorinto is an abstract strategy game that blends pattern recognition, set collection, and tile placement, set in a Japanese-inspired theme of the five elements. At the start, five tiles of each element—Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void—are arranged in a path around the board. Each player, on their turn, selects a tile from this path and places it onto one of the designated Mountain areas where the tiles are visible to all. Choosing an element changes how you can collect the others: for example, placing an Earth tile gives you a bonus when picking Water in later turns. This cascading effect makes every move a high‑stakes decision, requiring you to plan not only your next tile but also the long‑term impact on your collection. At the end of each round, players score points based on shifting objectives revealed at the start of the game, encouraging constant adaptation. The game ends when all tiles are placed; the winner is the one with the most points, reflecting the elemental harmony achieved. Visually striking, the pieces echo a gorintō—a small five‑element pagoda used in Japanese temples. The mechanics are easy to learn but deep to master, and the game runs well for 1‑4 players in 30‑60 minutes. If you enjoy games that demand reasoning and planning, Gorinto offers an elegant, accessible experience that can surprise with its depth of tile interactions.
