About the game

What you do in a play session

The One Hundred Torii is a zen journey through Japanese gardens, where each torii (those iconic red gates) acts as a portal to precious points. Your goal? Create strategic paths between fountains, shrines, and flowers while crossing as many of these sacred arches as possible—all while interacting with poets, samurai, and other thematic characters. Each turn, you expand the garden with new tiles like painting a living canvas, except your brushes are tactical choices. Will you focus on collecting geisha encounters? Or become the torii master by crossing them all first? The game ends when tiles run out, but the route possibilities feel endless. Play solo or with up to 4, but the vibe remains consistently calm, calculating, and beautifully thematic. Get ready to lose yourself (in the best way) in this strategic stroll!

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

5 questions
Is it good with 2 players?
Yes! Feels like a tactical gardener duel. With 4, it's more unpredictable but still strategic.
How complex is it?
BGG weight 2.1: easy to learn, deep to master. Perfect if you've played Carcassonne or Azul.
Do I need to pre-build the board?
Nope! The garden grows organically during play, like a puzzle everyone helps assemble.
How long does it take?
45-60 minutes, but veterans finish in 30min. The pacing is smooth and zen.
Is the solo mode worth it?
Absolutely! One of the best solo modes in abstract games—like a strategic puzzle that reshuffles itself.
