How to Play Grand Austria Hotel: Christmas Time Promo

Preparation (Setup)

To start playing Grand Austria Hotel with the Christmas Time promotion, follow these steps after all the normal base game setup phase steps have been completed:

1. Each player receives a green Christmas room token.
2. Players must immediately place the green Christmas room token on their hotel board, next to one of their starting rooms. The color printed on the hotel board can be ignored, but the cost, depending on the row, must be paid normally.
3. If there are fewer than four players, the unused Christmas room tokens must be returned to the game box.
4. Shuffle the five Gift tokens face down.
5. Place one of the Gift tokens in the game box, without looking at it.
6. Place the four remaining Gift tokens in the general supply next to the game board.
7. Finally, flip one of the Gift tokens face up, revealing its bonus.

Actions and How to Play

The Christmas Time promotion introduces a new option when fulfilling an eco-friendly guest's order and adds specific occupancy bonuses for the Christmas room.

Special Christmas Room Rules

• Fulfilling an Eco-Friendly Guest's Order: When fulfilling an eco-friendly guest's order, you have the option to move the guest to the Christmas room, instead of a normal room (blue, red, or yellow).
• Christmas Room Rewards: If you choose to move the guest to the Christmas room, you immediately receive the bonus points printed on the Christmas room tile (in addition to the victory points from the guest card). Then, discard the guest card and flip the Christmas room to its other side.
• Choosing a Gift: After occupying the Christmas room, you can choose a Gift. You can take the Gift token that is face up or you can choose one randomly from the remaining Gifts that are face down.
• Gift Bonus: Upon receiving a Gift, you immediately receive the bonus printed on it. The chosen Gift token is removed from the game.
• Revealing New Gifts: If you choose the Gift that was face up, flip one of the remaining Gifts face up, so that there is always one Gift face up for other players to choose from.
• Occupancy Bonus with the Christmas Room: When completing a group containing the Christmas room, only the other rooms in the group count towards the occupancy bonus. The Christmas room is green and therefore is not blue, red, or yellow. For example, if the Christmas room is part of a group of three rooms, you get the occupancy bonus as if it were a group of two rooms.

Gift Token Bonuses

The five bonuses that can be obtained from the Gift tokens are:

• Take two Staff cards, choose one, and discard the other.
• Advance two steps on the Emperor track.
• Receive 1 coffee and 1 cake.
• Gain 3 crowns.
• Gain 4 victory points.
