About the game
What you do in a play session
Great Western Trail: The Eleventh Building Tile is the expansion that brings fresh twists to the classic railroad strategy game. If you’ve already enjoyed lining up locomotives on the most profitable routes, you’ll love the new building tiles that pop up on your board. The pack adds four double‑sided building tiles, one for each of the game’s colors—red, blue, green, and yellow. On the back side, each tile lets you move your train forward as many spaces as you have hazard tiles in front of you, essentially allowing you to “jump” obstacles when you’ve cleared the right number of dangers. On the front side, the tile grants the “Remove a Hazard” action, clearing a danger from the track for the next round. It’s a way to give players more tactical options without changing the core mechanics. The expansion comes with four double‑sided tiles, one per color, and everything you need to integrate them into your game is already in the box. Originally part of the Rails to the North expansion and later included in the Deutscher Spielepreis 2017 Goodie Box, it carries the same quality guarantee. In terms of playtime, the add‑on doesn’t change much—you’ll still play between 75 and 150 minutes, depending on how many players. The complexity stays at the same level as the base game: moderate, requiring players to plan routes and manage hazards strategically. If you enjoy positioning decisions and want something that adds depth to your board, this expansion is a solid pick. It works best with 2 to 4 players and is ideal for those who already know the base and want to take their railroad strategy to the next level.
