In 'Guerilla', you'll be thrust into an intense civil war, where 3 to 6 players vie for control of the government. The game simulates the complexity of guerrilla warfare, where distinguishing allies from enemies is a constant challenge. The brilliant twist here is that each player secretly commands both government and rebel forces, but has a hidden loyalty to one side, adding a layer of intrigue and distrust. If your secret side doesn't win the round, the penalties are severe!
This duality of roles creates a fascinating dilemma: do you dedicate yourself to scoring for your secret side, for yourself, or even sacrifice your resources to help an opponent who *seems* to be on your team? And to spice things up even more, a 'Revolution' card can appear and change loyalties, throwing everything into chaos again. Scoring is done by eliminating opposing forces, influencing media and global public opinion, or controlling strategic installations like the Port or Airfield, which grant special abilities.
You'll see government air power and armored columns counterattacking guerrilla bands that vanish into the jungle. If things get ugly, the UN might intervene, transforming open warfare into a battle of secret police, propaganda, and assassinations of leaders. Game length is flexible, ranging from a single round to multiple ones, extending from one to four hours. Get ready for plenty of strategy, bluffing, and plot twists!

How many players does 'Guerilla' support and what is the average game duration?
'Guerilla' can be played by 3 to 6 people. The duration is quite flexible, ranging from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on whether you play one or more rounds. It's great for adapting to your game night!
What is the complexity level of the game? Is it easy to learn?
It's considered a medium-complexity game (BGG weight 2.641/5). The basic rules are accessible, but the strategic depth and the interaction of hidden roles require a few plays to master. Be prepared to think!
Does the game involve a lot of luck or is it more strategic?
It's an interesting mix! Dice rolling introduces an element of luck for certain events, but hand management, variable player powers, and especially deduction and bluffing are crucial. Strategy and reading your opponents are what truly shine here.
What are the main components of the game?
Being a 'card-wargame', the primary focus is on cards, which represent forces, events, and actions. Additionally, there are dice to resolve conflicts and likely some tokens to control installations and scoring.
Who is 'Guerilla' most recommended for?
If you love games with hidden roles, lots of player interaction, bluffing, and a political warfare theme with twists and turns, 'Guerilla' is for you! It's ideal for groups who enjoy discussions and accusations at the table.
Is there a language dependency to play 'Guerilla'?
According to sources, there is little text on the cards, and what there is, is easily memorizable. So, the language dependency is low, which makes it easier for non-English speakers.
What makes 'Guerilla' different from other wargames?
The big differentiator is the hidden roles mechanic combined with the duality of commanding both sides (government and rebels) while having a secret loyalty. This creates a psychological 'fog of war' where you never know who to trust, elevating intrigue to another level.
