About the game
What you do in a play session
In 2022, BGG released Heroes & Villains, a card game that thrusts players into an epic war between superheroes and villains after exotic matter meteors devastate Earth. Each player selects one of six power types, receives a Destiny Card that determines whether they’re hero or villain, and gains a once‑per‑game ability for an initial strategic edge. The battle deck—either pre‑built or custom‑crafted—serves as both your strength and your life: the goal is to exhaust your opponent’s deck before yours. At the start of each turn, a player draws a card (up to five) and allocates four Action Points to play cards onto the battlefield or activate abilities of cards already in play. The game blends attack tactics, defense, minions, and weapons, demanding a balance of offense and card recovery. With game lengths of 10 to 25 minutes, it delivers a fast, tense experience ideal for those who enjoy quick skirmishes and superhero themes. The “Take That” mechanic allows rapid counter‑attacks, while deck construction adds strategic depth, as each card can swing the game’s tide. Suitable for 2 to 6 players, it features moderate complexity and simple components: card decks, energy tokens, and life markers. If you love quick challenges, deck strategy, and comic‑book aesthetics, Heroes & Villains offers plenty of fun and unexpected twists.
