About the game
Hey word wizards! Ready for a vocabulary and strategy showdown on a hexagonal battlefield? In HomeWords, the goal is more than just spelling: you need to be clever, tactical, and quick to form words in your opponent's home row. Each player starts with 25 letter tiles, numbered 1 to 6, which are strategically placed in the first three rows on their side of the board. But beware, the home row is sacred and doesn't allow stacking at the start!

On your turn, the adrenaline kicks in with a die roll. The number rolled indicates which of your letters you can move. The idea is to advance to an adjacent space that is 'weaker' – meaning, with fewer or no letters. The trick? You can't move backward, only forward or sideways. If you find one of your own letters along the way, you can stack them! Stacking letters not only protects your most valuable pieces (hello, vowels!), but also increases the 'strength' of your space, allowing you to capture your opponent's letters.

Capturing is simple: if your stack is stronger than your opponent's, you remove their letter and replace it with yours. The captured letter is out of play, so every capture counts! When one of your letters finally crosses the battlefield and reaches the opponent's home row, it gains the freedom to move only sideways. This is when the magic happens: you need to use these sideways movements to rearrange your letters and form a valid word of at least three letters in consecutive spaces. The first to shout out their secret, valid word wins! But be careful: if your opponent is clever and captures all your vowels (and 'Y'), defeat is certain. HomeWords is a game that mixes luck, strategy, and a good dictionary to test who has the best vocabulary and the sharpest mind.
