About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready for a nail-biting adventure with HOPPE, a super-fast two-player bluffing game where you embody a squirrel on the hunt for legendary Golden and Silver Acorns! Winter is coming, and only the cleverest will manage to bring the treasure home. Gameplay is simple but full of twists, using only nine acorn coasters: one gold, three silver, and five regular. Each squirrel manages two secret areas for their acorns: their 'HOPPE,' hidden in their cheek (i.e., in their hand), and their 'Ground,' with acorns face-down on the table, a mystery to both players. On your turn, you choose one of three actions to manipulate the game state. You can 'PICK' an acorn from the Mountain (the deck), and if you wish, swap it with the one in your HOPPE, discarding the other face-up. Or you can 'TUCK,' swapping the acorns between your HOPPE and Ground. The third option is to 'TRICK': you swap your HOPPE with your opponent's HOPPE, all face-down, of course! After that, both players swap their HOPPE acorns with their Ground acorns, and one acorn is discarded from the Mountain, face-up. The game ends when the Mountain is empty. Then it's truth time: everyone reveals their acorns! The squirrel with the Gold acorn wins. If no one has the gold, the one with the most Silver acorns wins (in case of a tie, it's a draw!). But beware of greed: if you end up with both a Gold and a Silver acorn, they are far too heavy! You'll collapse on the way home and bust (lose). It's a game of memory and deduction, with plenty of betting and bluffing to see who has the best strategy and the most luck!
