About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready to fill your house with cute kitties, clever mice, and lots of dice in House of Cats! This is a super quick and clever roll-and-write game, the result of the first collaboration between veteran designers William Attia and Kristian A Østby. The idea is simple and addictive: each player gets their own game sheet, and each round, one player rolls the dice. From there, the magic happens: all players simultaneously use the results of those dice to fill in spaces on their individual sheets. The main goal is to group equal numbers to form 'rooms'.

But it's not just any group! For a room to be valid, the size of the group must be equal to the number that comprises it – like, two '2's, three '3's, and so on. Each room you complete not only gives you points but also unlocks a special ability that can turn the game in your favor. And the best part? House of Cats comes with four unique game levels, each with its own rules and challenges. Plus, each game, you'll use a random set of four abilities, chosen from a total of twelve possible. This ensures that every playthrough is a fresh experience full of new strategies. The cats and mice you add to your house will also score points, depending on the level you are playing. The game continues until one player manages to fill all the spaces on their sheet, and whoever has the best organized and highest scoring house wins!
