About the game
What you do in a play session
Set your course and feel the adrenaline rush in Island Racing! This racing game is pure tension and strategy, where each round is a new battle for the wind and victory. At the start of each turn, an event card shakes things up, and the wind direction is adjusted, dictating the sailors' fate. The fun begins when everyone secretly chooses their boat's speed and direction, marking it on their Compass Roses. Watch out: if you collided in the previous round, your minimum speed is 1!
When it's time for the reveal, all players simultaneously show their moves. Speed is adjusted according to the wind – sailing with it gives you a boost; against it, your boat struggles. Then, it's time to move the determined distance in the chosen direction. Be careful not to hit obstacles or sail off the map, or a collision is certain! And if more than one boat ends up in the same space, chaos ensues. Those who collide will have their speed reduced in the next round, so it's wise to think carefully about your maneuvers.
The goal is simple: be the first to complete the circuit and cross the finish line. In case of a tie, the finishing speed decides the winner. With two incredible maps – The Isle of Wight and The Isles of Scilly – Island Racing offers quick, twist-filled matches, perfect for those who enjoy strategic challenges with a touch of luck and plenty of interaction. It's an accessible game, ideal for anyone wanting a dose of uncomplicated competition.
