About the game

What you do in a play session

Isle of Skye: Druids is the second expansion for the already popular territory‑building game set in Scotland. It can be played on its own or paired with the Journeyman expansion, but its charm lies in rethinking the base game’s buying phase. Instead of a single round of bidding, the expansion splits the purchase into two sessions: the first follows the traditional pattern, where each player buys a tile from another player; the second allows acquiring a tile from the so‑called "dolmen board," which holds the so‑called druid tiles. These tiles are essentially normal landscape pieces, but they come with scrolls or stone tablets that grant special powers or follow the base game’s scoring rules. The tablet powers can be used until the end of the game, offering strategic advantages such as scoring bonuses, free tile acquisition, or even tile swaps. The scrolls, on the other hand, keep the original scoring mechanics but can be combined with other tiles to create combos. Additionally, the expansion introduces new scoring tiles, expanding the variety of strategies and increasing unpredictability. The two‑phase buying dynamic adds extra tension, as players must plan not only what they want now but what they can secure later. The druids, with their powers, add a decision layer that can flip the game in a few turns, especially in low‑player games. The expansion keeps the moderate complexity of the base game while adding depth and replayability, making each session unique. If you loved the original and want an extra challenge that blends buying strategy, territorial control, and a mystical touch, Isle of Skye: Druids is a pick that won’t disappoint.
