About the game
What you do in a play session
Get ready to dive into the fantasy universe of the novel “The Self-Bearer: The Way of the Exiles” with Jaźniarz: Bitwa, a competitive card game where you recruit characters and creatures to form your own fighting force. The objective is simple yet strategic: assemble columns of combatants while trying to sabotage your opponents' plans. Each turn is a decision: you draw a card and choose one action from playing a Companion or Joker, summoning a Possessed Spirit, attacking an exposed opponent's card, or exchanging cards from your hand. Companions are divided into four color-coded regiments, each with a special power: yellow cards allow immediate attacks, blue ones rearrange Companions already in play, red ones open space for an extra Possessed Spirit, and green ones retrieve cards from the discard pile. You can have up to four columns, each with a maximum of three cards of the same regiment, and special cards can boost their effects. Attacks use the top Companion in a column, with support from the card beneath it, and cards in hand can be used for defense. The dreaded Possessed Spirits prevent affected columns from attacking or scoring, but playing another Spirit on the same column removes both. The Night of Possession event even gives you an extra chance to use these Spirits on the drawing player's columns. The game ends when someone completes three columns of three cards or after the fifth Night of Possession. Whoever has the highest total strength in their unaffected columns wins! And if you want a cooperative experience, the partnership variant allows duos to defend each other and combine their scores.
