About the game
What you do in a play session
Jurassic Roll throws you straight into the pre‑extinction night of the dinosaurs, when a volcano and meteorites threaten to end the age of giant reptiles. You get a stack of sheets and a few dice; the goal is simple: roll, jot down combos, and bet on the best specimens before time runs out. Each round starts with a dice roll that produces fossil, eruption or meteor symbols. You decide where to record those symbols on your sheet, trying to complete lines that score points or unlock special abilities, like rescuing a T‑Rex or stopping the fictional Erliansaurus from taking over. The game blends the speed of roll‑and‑write with a light betting element: at the end of each turn you can gamble extra points for combo bonuses, but a misstep costs you points. Designed for the 9th BGG Roll & Write Contest, it snagged four awards, a good hint at its polish. Because it’s a print‑and‑play, you just download the PDF, print the sheets, and use ordinary dice – perfect for a quick meet‑up, a rainy afternoon, or solo play. In 10‑20 minutes you feel the pressure of saving prehistoric fauna, with light rules (weight 2/5) that let newcomers jump in easily. The final outcome can be a resurrected dinosaur and a high score, or the frustration of watching the world turn to ash. Whatever happens, Jurassic Roll offers fast fun, plenty of combo strategy, and that Jurassic‑victory feeling.
