Imagine you've just inherited the chance to own a magnificent vineyard, but there's a catch: it's nearly abandoned and the competition is fierce. In La Viña, you step into the shoes of a grape picker striving to prove you're the best in the region to secure ownership of the land. The core of the game lies in moving along tracks that represent the vineyard's rows. The dynamic is simple yet strategic: each turn, you decide whether to pick a grape card now and then move, or move first to try and grab a better grape at the next spot.
Here's the twist: haste can be your enemy. If you rush too quickly to grab the best cards, you risk reaching the end of the track without enough grapes in your basket. If you're too slow, your opponents will strip the best vines before you even get there. At the end of the path, you'll encounter local wineries. Each winery has specific tastes and prefers different grape varieties. Your goal is to match the cards in your hand with the wineries' demands to earn the highest possible prestige points.
The game triggers its end when a player makes their final grape delivery, though those trailing behind still get to finish their movement along the track. In the end, the player who accumulated the most prestige through their smart deliveries wins and becomes the new owner of the vineyard. It's a game of time and hand management, where the balance between harvesting speed and final product quality determines the winner. Perfect for those who enjoy light games that still require tactical thinking to avoid being outpaced by rivals.
