About the game
What you do in a play session
Justice for Satsume arrives as the third Dynasty Pack in the "Inheritance" cycle of Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game. The expansion adds 60 new cards, printed three copies of each of 20 different designs, intended to enhance and fine‑tune existing decks. The story continues the upheaval in Rokugan, where the Imperial City becomes the hotbed of intrigue and the Hantei family line is shaken like never before. Factions across the empire scramble for allies, and you decide which side matches your playstyle.
Mechanically, Justice for Satsume reinforces the core pillars of the base game: limited action points, deck/bag/pool building, and hand management. The new cards introduce two disguised characters that can surprise opponents and two Clan Champions that grant powerful, asymmetric abilities. This expands the variable player powers aspect, making each duel feel fresh. Secret unit deployment also receives fresh options, heightening bluffing potential.
The theme spotlights Courtiers and Bushi, emphasizing the clash between courtly intrigue and martial combat. The artwork retains L5R’s signature oriental aesthetic, with detailed illustrations that pull players deeper into Rokugan. As with most L5R cards, the set assumes a solid grasp of the rules and, being in Portuguese, still needs an almost complete translation for smooth play. Perfect for veterans who want more strategic depth and narrative flavor.
