About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for an electrifying space battle with Light Speed, a super-fast card game where identical teams of spaceships clash in a frantic combat over a crucial asteroid. Each ship is equipped with lasers of varying intensities, ready to fire. The game unfolds in two adrenaline-filled phases. First, in the 'fast round,' players simultaneously throw their cards onto the table, racing against time to position their ships. The objective is strategic: aim laser beams at the asteroid to 'mine' it and secure points, or at opponents to inflict damage and take them out of the game. As soon as one player manages to get rid of all their cards, the tension builds and the 'scoring round' begins. This is where the dust settles and strategy is revealed. Ships fire in rank order, from lowest to highest. If a ship accumulates more damage than its health allows, it is destroyed. At the end of all firing, players tally points for damage dealt to opponents and for each successful asteroid mining. Light Speed is part of the acclaimed Hip Pocket Games series, known for its compact and dynamic titles, and was recognized in GAMES Magazine's GAMES 100 list in 2004.
