About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a thrilling solo adventure with Loot the Loop! You step into the shoes of Maxx Delver, a fearless explorer on a quest for legendary royal jewels hidden within the Temple of the Sun. Forget tables and boards, as this game fits right in the palm of your hand, using just a standard deck of playing cards. The temple is a closed loop, and the top card of the deck represents your current location. Each turn, you advance through the temple by moving cards from the top to the bottom. Your options include: exploring an area (using a card's value to move an equivalent number of cards), taking a peek (flipping two cards if the top one is hidden), marking a path to return to later (storing a number card in a reserve), or returning to a previously marked path. The treasure hunt gets more intense with each jewel collected, as the deck becomes more concentrated with traps (face cards). Be careful not to fall into one! The goal is to collect all four jewels and find the exit, all before a trap ends your expedition. Loot the Loop is a gem for those who enjoy quick challenges that demand strategy and good risk management, all with the convenience of a game you can take anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

6 questions
How many players can play?
Loot the Loop is strictly a solo game, designed for one player only.
How long does a game take?
Games are quite fast, typically lasting between 10 to 20 minutes.
Do I need any special components?
No! You only need a standard deck of playing cards (52 cards) and a way to keep track of marked paths (a piece of paper or even just your memory will do).
Are the rules difficult to learn?
The rules are quite straightforward and easy to grasp, with a complexity rating of 2 out of 5, making it accessible for most players.
Who do you recommend this game for?
I recommend it for anyone looking for a quick, strategic solo game that can be played anywhere, perfect for travel or for those with limited time.
What do 'map reduction' and 'move through deck' mean?
'Move through deck' is the core mechanic where you move cards from top to bottom to advance. 'Map reduction' occurs because, as you collect treasures, you remove cards from the deck, making it denser and more dangerous over time.
