About the game
What you do in a play session
If you thought the Underworld was a peaceful place, think again, because the War of Souls expansion arrives to turn the Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape experience into a true nightmare. Here, the Lightbringers must traverse the Valley of Souls, a place of eternal sadness and violent storms that punish anyone who dares to enter. It is the final territory where lost souls gravitate and where Death itself watches every step of the heroes. To move forward in their mission and face the incarnation of Darkness, the group must fight their way through, battling powerful servants who refuse to accept the presence of the living in their domain.
From a component standpoint, this Enemy Box is a massive upgrade for those who love the tactical and visual side of the game. It introduces two new complete Mobs, meaning you get new Leaders and their respective Minions to populate your scenarios, along with specific items for these enemies, making combat more varied and challenging. But the real highlight is the new Roaming Monster: that terrifying creature that wanders the map, creating constant tension and forcing players to rethink their movement strategy to avoid being caught by surprise.
This is the ideal expansion for those looking to increase the difficulty and narrative immersion of the base game. If you enjoy feeling the pressure of facing hordes of demons and ghosts while trying to survive in a hostile environment, War of Souls delivers exactly that. Just keep in mind that, as Kickstarter-exclusive content, there is a moderate language dependency, so having a translation sheet or translated cards helps the game flow much better. Prepare your dice, gather your group, and try not to get lost in the Valley of Souls, because there, death is only the beginning of the torment.
