RECOMMENDED
In Mission: Red Planet, we are transported to a Victorian Earth desperate for resources. The solution? Mars! Automated probes have discovered super-powerful minerals like celerium and sylvanite, as well as ice that could be the key to terraforming the planet. As heads of mining corporations, our goal is to become absurdly rich by exploiting these resources before the competition outmaneuvers us. We have ten rounds to send our astronauts to the Red Planet, occupy the most valuable zones, and collect as much of these Martian treasures as possible. Each player commands a team of nine specialists, each with a unique ability, from assisting with astronaut transport to sabotaging enemy ships. Each round, we secretly choose a character card, which determines not only when our astronauts board the ships bound for Mars but also which special action we will perform. Each spaceship has a mysterious destination, and only upon landing in the region do we discover what resource awaits us. Resource collection and scoring happen three times during the game, and we also have secret mission cards that can give us an extra boost at the end. We can even acquire new missions or research cards that change the value of what we find. This 2015 edition maintains the essence of the 2005 original but brings novelties such as support for up to six players, rules for two players, new action cards, and the moon Phobos as an extra zone to explore!
