About the game

What you do in a play session

Monopoly City arrives as a full re‑imagining of the classic Monopoly, adding dynamism and strategy that go far beyond simply buying and collecting rent. Each player starts with more cash than usual, giving the impression of a longer game, but the real shift is the ability to build as soon as you purchase a lot. No longer do you need to wait for a full color set; even isolated properties can win the game if developed wisely. On every plot you may erect residential or industrial buildings. Residential ones are vulnerable to negative hazards and require positive constructions to retain value, whereas industrial buildings are protected but cost double, creating a constant risk‑vs‑reward dilemma. The game adds 80 new buildings, expanding the variety of combos and the unpredictability of each match. An electronic device handles deal timing and tells you exactly how many structures you can build each turn, replacing the old sand‑timer. Chance cards have been overhauled, removing the Community Chest and introducing events such as earthquakes that can crush your buildings or rules that block rent collection when the dice don’t match. Auctions and negotiations are frequent, as trading properties and resources becomes essential for progress. The 3‑D board with building miniatures gives an impressive visual feel and makes it easy to see which districts are thriving. In short, Monopoly City turns the Monopoly experience into a faster, more interactive city‑building game full of twists, perfect for players who enjoy a mix of luck, negotiation and urban planning.
