How to Play Mysterium: Secrets & Lies

Objective of the Game

In Mysterium: Secrets & Lies, players are psychics gathered at the Warwick Manor to help free a tortured spirit. The manservant's ghost is still manifesting, and there are many grey areas surrounding his demise, with no two townsfolk giving the same account of what happened. Curious and suspicious events occurred shortly before the tragedy, and the psychics need to find answers to solve this mystery.

Preparation (Setup)

Mysterium: Secrets & Lies is an expansion for the Mysterium base game, and all rules from the base game still apply, other than setup.

• Vision Cards: Shuffle the 42 Secrets & Lies vision cards together with the 84 vision cards from the base game and/or with the 42 Hidden Signs cards.
• Psychic Cards: Shuffle the Secrets & Lies character/location/object psychic cards together with the character/location/object psychic cards from the base game and/or from Hidden Signs.
• Ghost Cards: Add the Secrets & Lies character/location/object ghost cards to the character/location/object ghost cards from the base game and/or from Hidden Signs.
• Character Cards: The Character Cards have card backs numbered SL1 to SL6. There are 6 ghost cards and 6 psychic cards for characters.
• Location Cards: The Location Cards have card backs numbered SL7 to SL12. There are 6 ghost cards and 6 psychic cards for locations.
• Object Cards: The Object Cards have card backs numbered SL13 to SL18. There are 6 ghost cards and 6 psychic cards for objects.
• Story Cards: The Story Cards have card backs numbered SL19 to SL36. Each story card represents a potential motive that could have led to the manservant’s demise. Story cards are an alternative to object cards.
• Choosing Card Types: During setup, you must choose to play with either object cards or story cards:
  • If you play with object cards, return the story cards to the box. They will not be used during the game. Draw the number of character/location/object cards as indicated in the base game rules (see Game Difficulty & Card Setup, page 8).
  • If you play with story cards, return the object cards to the box. They will not be used during the game. Draw the number of character/location/story cards as indicated in the base game rules (see Game Difficulty & Card Setup, page 8).
