About the game

What you do in a play session

Mysticana: Sorcerers’ Showdown turns the core Mysticana deck into a 15‑minute spell‑battling duel, perfect for fans of quick, strategic clashes. Each game starts with players dealt eight cards, of which six are chosen for the duel and two are set aside for the next round. The first player launches a spell, and the opponent must respond with a card of the same element if possible. The showdown is resolved by rank and element, and the winner captures both cards. If the Halo card (rank ⟐) wins, the victor may steal a pair of already captured cards from the opponent. Play continues until one player holds all captured cards, or until both run out. In that case, each player retrieves the two cards held at the start of the round and resumes the duel with a hand one card smaller than the previous round. The Hand‑Management mechanic forces players to balance useful cards and reserves, while the Rock‑Paper‑Scissors hierarchy of elements adds a strategic layer, and Trick‑Taking heightens the tension of each confrontation. Mysticana is a Foundation Deck of 18 cards with six ranks across three elements, allowing the game to be played in many ways with small expansions. If you enjoy fast card duels, calculated risks, and a touch of fantasy, this compact game delivers a fun, engaging experience.
