In Near and Far, you and your friends embark on an epic journey to find the legendary Last Ruin, a mystical city that, according to lore, holds an artifact capable of granting the heart's deepest desires. Four wanderers, each with their own motivations – be it a lost love, a quest for redemption, or the hope of reuniting a family – set out on this adventure, but will have to contend with their own greed and inner demons along the way. This game, a sequel to the acclaimed Above and Below, invites you to explore various maps, each with unique art and challenges, over a narrative campaign spanning more than ten sessions. Prepare to recruit adventurers, uncover hidden treasures, and compete to be the most storied traveler. In town, you'll need to gather essential supplies like food and equipment for long expeditions. And don't forget your weapons, as the path is fraught with dangers like bandits, living statues, and rusty robots! One of the most striking features is the storybook: at crucial moments in your journey, one of your companions will read a narrative passage, presenting choices that will shape your destiny and create a unique experience with each play. Answer the call of the ruins and begin your own saga!

How many players can play Near and Far?
The game is designed for 2 to 4 players, which is great for a session with friends or family.
What is the average playtime for Near and Far?
Prepare for an adventure lasting 90 to 120 minutes per session. But remember, it truly shines in campaign mode, so the total playtime can be much longer!
Is Near and Far too complex for beginners?
With a weight of 2.9 out of 5 on BGG, it's considered a medium-complexity game. It's not a light 'filler,' but it's not an extremely heavy euro either. You can get the hang of it after a few plays.
Do I need to play Above and Below before Near and Far?
It's not mandatory! While it is a thematic sequel, Near and Far has its own independent story and mechanics. You can dive straight into this adventure without any issues.
Are the game components of good quality?
Yes! Red Raven Games is known for the quality of its components and Ryan Laukat's fantastic art. The storybook and maps are particularly impressive.
Does the game have a lot of text? Is it language dependent?
Yes, it has a lot of text, especially in the storybook. A good part of the immersion comes from the narrative, so fluency in English (or a good translation) is quite important.

Absolutely! The strong narrative component, the choices that shape the story, and the exploration of a fantastic world make it an excellent option for those who enjoy the tabletop RPG vibe.
