Game Objective

In Nemesis: Lockdown – Stretch Goals, players face the threat of the Chytrids, an intelligent and predatory fungus species that can grow through the ship's structures without destroying them until the moment it decides to do so. The goal is to survive the infection and the ship's dangers, dealing with lethal spores and special drones that can defeat even the most experienced crews.

Setup

To set up the game, follow these steps:

  1. Place the board on the table using the basic side.
  2. Position the Room Tiles in the appropriate spaces: Isolation Room, Repository, and Backup Power Supply.
  3. Shuffle the Room Tiles "II" and place one (face down) in each Room space marked with "II".
  4. Shuffle and place the Room Tiles "I" in the spaces marked with "I".
  5. Shuffle the Subterranean Exploration Tokens and place one (face down) on each unrevealed Room Tile.
  6. Place the Elevator, the Main Gate, and the Rover in their respective spaces.
  7. Distribute the Energy–3 Markers in the Section spaces and 1 on the Elevator marker. Remember: the blue side indicates the section is energized.
  8. Shuffle and place the CSS Tokens (face down) in each space of the Time Track.
  9. Prepare the Chytrid Laboratory Board:
    • Place 5 Egg Tokens in the Nest space.
    • Position the Chytrid Germinators in the colored spaces (showing only 1 growth).
    • Place 3 Chytrid Weakness Cards (reveal only the first one).
  10. Position the Queen Board next to the main board, with the Chytrid Queen in the middle and the Stinkhorns around it.
  11. Prepare the Intruder Bank with the Intruder Tokens and the Intruder Carcass Tokens beside it.>
  12. Shuffle and place the Item decks (3 colors), Contamination, and Serious Injury. Replace the base game's Attack and Event decks with the Chytrid components.
  13. Place the Computer Action deck and reveal the first card.
  14. Place the Scanner next to the Contamination deck.
  15. Place the Time Marker on the 15th green space of the Time Track (inactive/red side up).
  16. Distribute the Escape Pods (according to the number of players) in Sections A and B, with the "Locked" side up.
  17. Place the Destination Marker on the "B" space of the Destination Log.
  18. Prepare Engines 01, 02, and 03 by shuffling two tokens (one "01" Damaged and one Working) for each engine.

Gameplay

The game follows the turn and round structure, but with specific mechanics for the Chytrids. The Event Phase uses Chytrid components and is resolved in stages:

  1. Intruder Movement and Propagation: The Chytrids move or spread. If there is a Stinkhorn symbol, they move to an adjacent room through the corresponding corridor. If there is a Germinator, they spread Spores.
  2. Germinator Growth: If there is a Germinator symbol, all Germinators of the corresponding color grow (increase level).
  3. Event Effect: Resolve the specific effect of the Event card.

Note on Exploration: When exploring a new room, you must set up the Items, place a Spore Marker (if applicable), and resolve the effect of the Exploration Token.

Actions and How to Play

During the game, players interact with the following elements:

  • Combat: Can be performed against Intruders or Germinators. A Melee Attack against a Germinator reduces its level but does not cause Serious Injury.
  • Exploration: Upon revealing a Room Tile, the player must check the amount of Items and deal with possible Spore Markers or Germinators.
  • Using Items: There are Item and Crafted Item decks to aid survival.
  • Computer Actions: Used via the Computer Action deck.
  • Interaction with Chytrids:
    • Germinators: Can be reduced in level through Melee Attack or Shoot Action. If the level reaches 0, they return to the Laboratory Board.
    • Stinkhorns: Behave like Adult Intruders. Causing a Wound to a Stinkhorn requires drawing an Intruder Attack card.
    • Deathcaps: Can only be placed in rooms with a Germinator or Mycelium. Causing a Wound to a Deathcap requires drawing 2 Intruder Attack cards.
    • Chytrid Queen: She is the heart of the colony. To kill her, you must reach the total number of Wounds by comparing the value of Intruder Attack cards with the number on the Queen Board.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends under the following conditions:

  • Total Defeat: If the number of Mycelium Markers runs out (there are 8 in the game), the facility is considered beyond recovery. All Characters in the facility die and the game ends.
  • Death of the Queen: If the Chytrid Queen is defeated, a Carcass Token is placed in her location.
  • Victory: Consult the manual for details on this section.
