About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a new level of paranoia! The Sangrevores expansion for Nemesis: Retaliation introduces a visceral threat that completely shifts the survival dynamics. Forget the Queen; this time, the King is in charge—the Crimson Despot, an ancient being awakened from a deep slumber after the discovery of a macabre capsule made of stacked bones. He doesn't just want to kill; he wants to dominate.

The game-changer here is the conversion mechanic. By interacting with the King or the Blood Spectres, your character can become infected. You'll receive secret infection cards that might remain neutral at first, but can suddenly transform you into a Hemodyne mid-game. When this happens, your secret objective shifts entirely—and your crewmates won't know who the infiltrator is.

Furthermore, the contamination concept has been revamped. Instead of just clogging your deck, new contamination cards grant unique mutations with special abilities. You might become invisible to the Sangrevores or even control hordes of Ghouls, but everything comes with a cost: using these powers usually requires sacrificing your health or causing injuries. It's the kind of tool that gives you an edge but makes everyone suspicious of your every move.

Meanwhile, you'll have to deal with Blood Spectres, who drain your life energy, and swarms of Ghouls, who, despite their lack of intelligence, are numerous enough to make station exploration a nightmare. With no larvae to worry about, the focus shifts entirely to mental and physical corruption. If you love that 'who can I trust?' feeling while trying not to be devoured by grotesque creatures, this expansion is a must. The semi-co-op tension is pushed to the limit, turning cooperation into a game of cat and mouse where loyalty is the first thing to die.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

5 questions
Do I need the base game to play?
Yes, this is an expansion for Nemesis: Retaliation, so you'll need the base game to use this content.
Does it make the game much harder?
The difficulty shifts. The absence of larvae helps, but the possibility of an ally turning into an enemy mid-game makes survival much more unpredictable.
How does the Hemodyne conversion work?
You receive secret infection cards. Some are neutral, but others change your secret objective, turning you into the King's agent without the others knowing.
Do contamination cards still clog the deck?
Not in the same way. They now grant useful abilities (like invisibility), but you pay a price (such as injuries) to use them.
How many players is it recommended for?
1 to 5 players. The more players, the higher the paranoia when someone starts acting 'suspiciously' due to mutations.
