About the game
What you do in a play session
In The Good, The Bad and the Goat, you step into the boots of classic Old West figures, aiming to amass the biggest fortune before the final round. The game unfolds over three rounds (four in a two‑player duel) and each turn features a lively card‑exchange. One player becomes the dealer, looks at four Character Cards, selects one, flips it face‑down and offers it to another player, announcing which character is being given – but they are free to lie. The recipient then chooses to accept or reject: acceptance means they take the character; rejection hands it to the dealer. Play then passes to the player on the dealer’s left, keeping the rotation smooth.
Every character carries a perk or a pitfall. Some hand out coins or valuable Belonging Tokens, while others like the Sheriff or the Gunslinger can bring trouble or even arrest. The Goat, of course, is worthless and nobody wants to end up with it. The win condition is simple: after the last round, the player with the highest total of coins and belongings wins.
Blefing is the engine of the game – truth or deception about the offered card can swing the outcome dramatically. At the same time, hand management and set collection demand you keep tabs on the cards you hold and chase combos that boost your earnings. Variable player powers give each character a unique twist, making every session feel fresh. With light rules, 30‑45 minute playtime, and a modest 1.5 weight, the game welcomes newcomers while still satisfying fans of bluffing and card‑driven strategy.
