Get your hazmat suit ready, because the Zone is no joke! In Perimeter54, you step into the shoes of a Stalker attempting to survive and strike it rich in a hostile, shifting environment. The goal is simple, but the execution is pure adrenaline: you must explore the Zone to find valuable artifacts and useful gear, but every step into the unknown increases your radiation levels. If you overdo it and accumulate 5 or more radiation before returning to your hideout, disaster strikes: you'll be forced to flee, losing everything you gathered during that raid.
The gameplay is a tightly wound cycle of risk and reward. On your turn, you face a crucial choice: Explore or Return to the Hideout. Exploring means drawing a card from the Zone Deck and resolving its effect immediately. This could yield treasures or deadly hazards. Returning allows you to bank your gear and artifacts safely, clear your radiation, and end your raid. Gear cards are your best allies, helping to offset radiation or store items for future bonuses, but even the best gear has its limits.
Watch out for unexpected dangers, like the rare Psychic Emission, which can force all active explorers to flee simultaneously! The game concludes once a player accumulates a total value of 9 points from their gear and artifacts. The player with the highest total value wins, with ties broken by whoever has collected the most artifacts. It's a fast-paced, tense experience perfect for those who love that gut-wrenching feeling of knowing one wrong move could cost you everything.
