About the game
In Québec you command a wealthy family determined to leave its imprint on the historic city. The game spans four centuries, each player taking about 5‑7 turns per century. On your turn you may start a new building with your architect, advance a building already under construction, send a worker to one of five influence zones (religion, politics, commerce, culture, military) or draw a leader card that grants special abilities. Completed buildings give prestige, but the real engine is the influence zones: the player with the majority in a zone cascades half of their workers to the next zone, potentially triggering a chain reaction that yields extra points. This domino effect forces strategic choices – sometimes it’s better to secure a majority in a weaker zone to start the cascade. At the end of each century a scoring round awards victory points for workers placed in the zones. Everyone also contributes to building the famous Citadelle, which adds more points. After the fourth century, finished buildings are converted into final points and the highest total wins. The game blends worker placement, area majority and a modular board that expands as constructions appear, providing high replayability. With a light 2.9/5 weight, Québec is easy for newcomers yet deep enough for seasoned players thanks to the cascading majority mechanic. Awarded the Plateau d’Or 2007, it still charms both Eurogame fans and city‑building enthusiasts.
