About the game
What you do in a play session
The third expansion for Race for the Galaxy, 'The Brink of War', escalates the galactic struggle, requiring both previous expansions ('The Gathering Storm' and 'Rebel vs Imperium') to play. Brace yourself for more conflict, as galactic prestige becomes the most valuable currency, useful for gaining favors and defending against attacks. This expansion introduces four new starting worlds, five novel goals, and 44 game cards that broaden strategic options. The galactic prestige rules are the main highlight: each round, the player with the most prestige gains an extra victory point and possibly a card. At the end of the game, each prestige point is worth one victory point, and many new cards allow you to spend it for more points, cards, or other advantageous effects. To top it off, a new, once-per-game special action lets you search the deck for a specific card or boost a round's bonus, all at the cost of one prestige point. And for those who enjoy playing with more people, there are new rules for six players and counters for solo play. If you've already mastered the previous two expansions and crave more depth and new tactics, 'The Brink of War' is your next move.
