About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a railway adventure in late 19th-century Australia! In "Railways of Australia," you'll face the challenge of building railways across a continent marked by inconsistent rail gauges. This whole mess means passengers and cargo need to switch trains at specific stations where different gauge lines meet, creating a logistical puzzle and new opportunities for aspiring railway barons. This expansive map for "Railways of the World" (or "Railways of Nippon") is designed for 2 to 6 players and brings a host of new features. We have a new terrain type, towns, which become major urban centers on the map. Additionally, Railroad Operations cards can automatically build the map's 10 towns. But beware! Crossing region borders is only possible if you connect through a city or use a special 'Triple Gauge' card. The expansion also includes junction track pieces for use with the "Switch Tracks" mini-expansion, allowing you to assemble track connections in more detail. If you enjoy route-building games, resource management, and a touch of auction to set turn order, "Railways of Australia" will provide a rich and challenging experience, demanding planning and strategy to dominate Australian rail transport.
