Fancy a quick and charming solo challenge using a standard deck of cards? Rainbows & Unicorns is a little card game that placed third in a traditional deck game design contest. The premise is that you need to help a quartet of legendary unicorns guard a mystical treasure. To do this, you'll use a 52-card deck and try to discard all the cards by forming specific combinations. The rules are straightforward: shuffle the deck and turn cards over one by one, distributing them into up to four piles. Each pile can hold a maximum of four cards. The magic happens when a pile forms a 'rainbow' (four cards of different suits) or a 'unicorn' (three cards of the same suit plus any Ace). Once you form one of these combinations, you discard the cards from the pile, freeing up space for new ones. The ultimate goal is to discard all the cards in the deck, which is quite a feat – your chances of winning are around 10%! If you enjoy scoring, you can tally points: 10 for each rainbow, 50 for each unicorn, and a special bonus if you manage to clear all piles simultaneously. The maximum score is 303, which, they say, is the number of gold coins in the treasure!
