Get ready to dive into the brutal universe of Red Rising! Based on Pierce Brown's acclaimed novel series, the game transports you to a futuristic and cruel society where humanity is divided into 14 strict castes. Here, you aren't just a player, but the leader of a House fighting for power and influence in a system where survival of the fittest is the only law. Your goal? Gather the most capable followers to climb the social hierarchy and, perhaps, break the chains of the Society or embrace the dominance of the Golds.
At the heart of the gameplay are hand management and combo building. You start with five cards, and each turn requires strategic decision-making: which follower do you deploy to which location on the board? By placing a card, you activate that location's benefit, but the move doesn't end there. After your action, you choose the next card for your hand, either picking something visible at another location (pure strategy!) or risking it with the top of the deck.
The dynamics are fast-paced and competitive. If you feel your hand is perfect, you can even choose to reveal the top card of the deck to secure a location's benefit without spending your precious resources. With a mix of dice rolling, variable player powers, and classic 'take that' mechanics, the tension is constant. You'll need a keen eye to collect the right sets and secure valuable end-game bonuses. It's a game of positioning, anticipation, and, of course, a strong will to win. Do you have the coldness required to rule, or will you be just another pawn in the Golds' game?

Is the game complex? Do I need to read the books to play?

How long does a game take?
Usually between 45 and 60 minutes, making it great for those who want something strategic without spending hours at the table.
Does it work well solo?
Yes! The game features solo/solitaire rules, allowing you to test your strategies even without company.
Is the game very aggressive?
It has 'Take That' mechanics, so expect some moves to hinder your opponents. It's for those who enjoy competitiveness!
Is it language dependent?
Yes, there is a high language dependency due to the card text, so if you aren't fluent in English, you'll need a translation.
