About the game

What you do in a play session

Get ready for a breathtaking galactic war in Rex: Final Days of an Empire! If you enjoy games that blend negotiation, betrayal, and a whole lot of strategy, this one's for you. Imagine you're in the Twilight Imperium universe, but 3,000 years earlier, during the final days of the Lazax Empire. Each player takes control of a powerful alien civilization, each with its unique abilities and a different playstyle. The goal? To dominate Mecatol City, a giant ruined metropolis, by conquering three key locations. But don't be fooled, it's not just about showing up and taking over! There's a naval blockade in effect, and only certain factions (like the Sol and their ally, the Hacan) can pass through easily. To win, you'll need plenty of smooth talk to convince others, find hidden weapon caches, and gain control of important institutions. This translates to controlling areas that grant you influence to bypass the blockade and send your troops into battle. And speaking of battles, brace yourself: when forces clash, things get heated! Each player's strength depends on the troops you're willing to spend and your chosen leader. Oh, and be careful who you trust, because a traitorous leader could be the end of the line! With optional rules and very distinct factions, every game of Rex promises a new and full of twists experience. It's a game that demands quick thinking, heavy negotiation, and always staying one step ahead of your rivals.
