About the game
What you do in a play session
Risk: Godstorm puts each player in the shoes of a high priest leading an ancient civilization—Greek, Celtic, Babylonian, Norse or Egyptian—in a race to dominate both the surface world and the Underworld. The board depicts an ancient map focused on Europe and North Africa, with Atlantis as a coveted region that can sink at any moment, taking everything on it with it. The goal is to earn the most Victory Points after five epochs (rounds). Points are awarded for territories controlled, continent bonuses, control of crypts and altars in the Underworld, and relics that grant extra bonuses when their territories are held.
The game retains classic Risk combat but adds new mechanics: area movement, area majority/influence, campaign/battle cards, dice rolling and player elimination. A major twist is the Underworld, where armies can be sent to fight again or be defeated, and some units may return to the surface.
Godstorm also includes everything needed to play classic Risk on the same ancient board, offering an alternate experience. For 2‑5 players, a playtime of 2‑3 hours and a light complexity (2.7/5 weight), it appeals to those who enjoy conquest strategy without overwhelming depth. If you love mythology, epic wars and a dash of dice luck, Godstorm might become your next obsession.
