Game Objective

In Rodízio, players gather for a culinary experience where the goal is to accumulate the highest value in pizzas. The game simulates the dynamics of a Brazilian all-you-can-eat restaurant, where players choose and "eat" pizza slices to build their score. The victory condition is to be the player with the second-highest total value of pizzas at the end of the game, thus becoming the rodízio master.

Setup

To set up the game, follow these steps:

  • Shuffle all 18 cards.
  • Use 3 random cards to form a triangle in the center of the table. These cards represent the plates, with their "plate" sides facing up. Connect the plates at each corner.
  • If one of the cards used to form the triangle is the placard card, swap it with another random card from the deck.
  • Deal the remaining cards into columns in front of each plate. Alternate columns with 2 cards and columns with 3 cards.
  • Stack the cards so that each card covers half of the card below it.
  • The player who most recently went to a rodízio starts the game.

Game Flow

The game proceeds in turns. After all players have taken their turns, the Glutton's turn (in 2-player games) occurs. The game ends when only 3 cards remain in the center of the table.

Glutton's Turn (for 2 players)

In 2-player games, an imaginary opponent called the Glutton also participates. After the two human players take their turns, it is the Glutton's turn.

  • When distributing pizzas, the Glutton always chooses the plate that contains the placard card.
  • Next, it "eats" a pizza, if possible.
  • The Glutton ignores the two restrictions of the placard card.
  • The pizzas eaten by the Glutton are placed in a pile with the cards face down. No one can look at the cards in this pile.

Actions and How to Play

During your turn, you will perform actions related to distributing and "consuming" pizzas.

Distribute and Eat Pizzas

In this phase, you "eat" a pizza according to the last card you distributed and where it was placed:

  • Placard Restriction: You cannot choose a plate if the placard card is on top of that stack of cards.
  • Eating Pizzas:
    • If the placard card is on the chosen plate (in any position), you do not eat pizzas.
    • If the last card distributed is the only card on the plate, you eat this pizza.
    • You eat the pizza that is directly below the last card you distributed.

"Eating" a pizza means taking cards into your hand. Keep your hand hidden from other players, but you can consult it at any time.

Spicy Mode (Advanced Games)

For more challenging games, the spicy mode introduces new dynamics:

  • Some cards have a chili pepper symbol on the bottom, indicating a spicy action.
  • Spicy Action - Free Choice: Choose any pizza from this plate to eat. You can even choose the last card you just distributed.
  • Spicy Action - Double Action: Perform the "eat pizza" action twice on this plate, if possible. Always use the last distributed card as a reference.
  • Spicy Distribution Rule: When distributing pizzas, if the last card has a spicy action, you must perform it instead of following the normal pizza-eating rule.

End of Game and Scoring

The game ends when only 3 cards remain in the center of the table: the placard card and 2 pizzas.

Scoring and Victory

  • At the end of the game, all players reveal the pizzas they "ate" and sum their values.
  • The player with the second-highest total wins the game and becomes the rodízio master.

Glutton's Score (for 2 players)

  • At the end of the game, the Glutton's cards are revealed and its total is calculated.
  • The player with the second-highest total wins the game.
  • If the Glutton has the second-highest total, all players lose.

Tips for Winning

  • In 2-player games, pay attention to the Glutton's actions, as it can influence who achieves the second-highest total.
  • In spicy mode, the special actions can drastically change how you collect pizzas, requiring strategic adaptation.
