About the game

What you do in a play session

Grab your pencil and your map of the United States, because Rolling America is here to challenge you! This game is one of those "multiplayer solitaire" gems we love: everyone gets their own map, rolls their own dice, but all playing together (or rather, side-by-side). The concept is straightforward: you draw two six-sided dice from a bag (containing 6 colored dice and 1 clear one) and roll them. With the numbers rolled, you must fill in the corresponding states on your map. If the blue die shows a 4, you mark a blue state with the number 4. If the clear die shows a 5, you can place it in any state! The catch is that adjacent states cannot have numbers with a difference greater than 1. If you can't place a number without breaking this rule, that state gets an X. And hey, you can use the clear die for any color, and colored dice can be treated as another color three times per game. Oh, and Alaska and Hawaii are the "free states," where you can place any number without worrying about neighbors! There are two extra aids: "guard" (ignore the neighbor rule three times) and "dupe" (use a die twice in the same region). The game lasts for 8 rounds, and whoever has the fewest X's at the end wins. It's a quick game, easy to learn, and tests your planning and adaptation skills with each roll.
