Saboteur: The Duel

Saboteur: The Duel is a standalone version of the popular Saboteur card game, designed for one or two players. Here, the thrill of digging and sabotage gets a more personal touch. When you venture alone, the goal is simple: dig as many tunnels as possible to collect the most gold you can. It's a race against time and the mine's own traps!

In the two-player mode, the dynamic shifts to a direct confrontation. Your goal is to accumulate more gold than your opponent, but be prepared, because they will do everything to block your progress and divert your paths. The game unfolds by using path cards to build a maze towards six goal cards, which hide varying amounts of gold. Additionally, action cards allow you to hinder your rival or repair your own damaged equipment, adding a strategic layer to the dispute. Keep an eye out for the greedy troll lurking in the depths of the mine; he demands payment to allow passage and, of course, gives no change! The game also introduces path cards with trolls and key cards, which add new layers of strategy, such as the need to pay the troll to continue a path or use a key to open colored doors. The game ends when all six goal cards are revealed and all merchant dwarf tokens are in play, with victory being determined by who accumulates the most gold over three rounds.
