About the game

What you do in a play session

Sailor Moon Card Game: Masquerade Battle is a trick‑taking card game that blends strategy, social deduction, and a dash of anime flair. Each game starts with the distribution of team cards that hide each player’s allegiance: either Dark Kingdom or Sailor Guardians. The goal is to collect character cards using the power of the team you’re pretending to represent while trying to trick others about your true identity. The deck has five suits, one of which is the Moon trump, and each card carries two values—one for each team—allowing players to choose at play. During a round, players must follow the lead suit if able, but the value choice can swing the outcome. The trick winner captures cards separately for each team, creating a dynamic where control of each side depends on mastering the tricks. When a player runs out of cards, the game ends and points are tallied only for character cards that match the power of the team the player actually represents. For the leader’s team (Queen Metalia or Princess Serenity) to win, a single player must reach at least the declared amount and still outscore the highest opponent; otherwise the other side wins. The game accommodates 3 to 9 players, with 3 to 7 recommended, and each session lasts 20‑30 minutes. The learning curve is gentle, though mastering the value choices and deception strategy can take time. It’s perfect for Sailor Moon fans, trick‑taking enthusiasts, and lovers of social deduction games.
