About the game
What you do in a play session
John Rhodes, the "Scholar", arrives in the Multiverse as an additional hero for Sentinels of the Multiverse. He is an elderly alchemist living on a houseboat in the Everglades, guarding the legendary Philosopher's Stone. The stone lets him twist reality's threads, transmuting objects and even meddling with interdimensional threats. In the game, the Scholar provides his own deck packed with cards that blend resource manipulation, healing, energy control, and a few subtle attack options. Like all Sentinels heroes, he works in a team, cooperating with other players to defeat powerful villains. His standout feature lies in the Variable Player Powers mechanic, giving each player a unique set of abilities, and the cooperative aspect, where the group must coordinate the Scholar's powers with those of the other heroes to seal dimensional rifts and stop catastrophes. The expansion requires a full translation of the cards, as the original text is extensive, but this ensures rich, thematic content. Components include a 30‑card deck, an energy token, and a concise rule sheet. Playtime is about 45 minutes, perfect for 2‑5 players already familiar with the base game. If you love superhero settings, enjoy cooperative play, and appreciate heroes with alchemical and reality‑bending abilities, the Scholar is a welcome addition that adds fresh strategies without overcomplicating the experience.
