About the game

What you do in a play session

If you love the hustle and bluffing of Sheriff of Nottingham, get ready for an upgrade in fun! This expansion, Merry Men, brings five brand-new modules you can mix and match to make the game even more chaotic and hilarious. Want to play with more people? No problem, you can now invite another friend to complete the group of six players!

The modules are a show in themselves. There are the 'Deputies,' who come into play in six-player games, sharing the Sheriff's job (and money!). If they disagree, the trouble is individual! The 'Merry Men' are illegal goods that, if smuggled successfully, activate special abilities that can turn the game around. The 'Black Market' adds bonus cards for those who are clever and smuggle the right items.

And it doesn't stop there! The 'Laws' change the game's rules each round, forcing the Sheriff to think twice before acting. And the 'Special Orders' give you an extra objective: smuggle a specific combination of legal and illegal goods to earn bonus gold. That's a lot of new stuff to mess with your head (and your friends'!). This expansion is perfect for those who want more variety and twists in the base game, maintaining that negotiation and bluffing vibe everyone loves.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers before you buy

7 questions
Do I need the base Sheriff of Nottingham game to play Merry Men?
Absolutely! Merry Men is an expansion, so it adds content to the base game. You can't play without the original game.
How many players does this expansion support?
The base game is for up to 5 players, and this expansion allows you to play with up to 6 people, adding another player option.
Are the modules mandatory, or can I choose which ones to use?
You get to choose! The beauty of this expansion is that it comes with 5 different modules, and you can mix and match them as you like, or even not use any if you prefer.
Does the game become much more complicated with the expansion?
It adds more layers of strategy and rules with the modules, but the core of the game remains the same. If you've already mastered the base game, you'll get the hang of it quickly. You can start with one or two modules to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
How much does the playtime increase with this expansion?
It might increase a bit, depending on how many modules you use and how familiar you are with them. Expect maybe an extra 15-30 minutes per game, especially at the beginning.
Does this expansion add new components besides cards?
Yes, depending on the module, it might include new tokens, chips, or other components to represent the new mechanics and elements of the game.
Is this expansion worth it for someone who already owns the base game?
If you really enjoy Sheriff of Nottingham and want more variety, twists, and the option to play with more people, it's definitely worth it. It adds a lot of content and keeps the fun high!
