About the game
What you do in a play session
Smash Up: It’s Your Fault! brings the chaotic energy of the Smash Up series to a dedicated two‑player duel. After a worldwide fan vote, four factions were selected: Sharks, Super‑heroes, Greek Gods, and Dragons, with the bonus Tornado (Shark Delivery System) faction adding even more variety. Each player builds a deck by pairing two of these factions, creating unexpected synergies – picture a dragon protecting a team of superheroes or sharks devouring zombie cards. The goal is to control the majority of board areas by playing units, "Take That" effects, and special abilities.
The Area Majority mechanic forces you to position your creatures strategically, while Hand Management requires you to decide when to unleash powerful cards or hold resources for later. Variable Phase Order means the turn sequence can shift each round, keeping every game unpredictable and full of twists.
At roughly 45‑60 minutes and a light weight (2/5), the game is perfect for a quick yet tactically rich session. The humor in the artwork and card text keeps the tone light, even when the theme swings from dragons to zombies to Greek mythology. It’s ideal for players who love card games with diverse themes – from sci‑fi to horror – and enjoy direct interaction via "Take That" cards. If you’ve played other Smash Up expansions, the familiar mechanics will feel at home, but the two‑player‑only design offers refined balance that makes each match feel fresh.
