About the game
What you do in a play session
Solacia 2: The Ice Demon places you in the role of a hero commander who must traverse a frozen realm to eliminate the threat that has frozen the land. The adventure begins when the Queen summons four unique characters – Warf, a heavily armored fighter; Erica, a nimble spear thrower; the enigmatic Mystic; and Tooth, a colossal beast – and gives them the mission to find and destroy the Ice Demon. The game unfolds through a series of five randomized quests, each represented by a hexagonal map that changes each playthrough, ensuring no campaign is the same as the last. You control each unit’s movements, decide when to roll dice, when to use special abilities, and how to react to unpredictable events that arise each turn. Dice rolling determines attack strength, grid movement allows positional tactics, and line of sight limits action range, creating an intense tactical challenge. Additionally, the game offers multiple maps and the ability to move several units simultaneously, increasing complexity and replayability. Variable setup ensures each game starts with a different configuration, keeping the surprise factor high. The ultimate goal is to complete the fifth quest and defeat the Ice Demon, restoring Solacia’s beauty. With a playtime of 15 to 45 minutes, Solacia 2 is a quick and engaging solo strategy game for those who enjoy deep tactical depth and immersive storytelling. The board is made of wooden hexagonal tiles representing terrain, enemies, and obstacles. Each hero has a set of action cards that grant unique abilities, such as ranged attacks or healing. Events are triggered by dice rolls, bringing unexpected allies, traps, or climatic changes that affect movement. The multiple maps mechanic lets you switch between frozen forest, ice cave, and enemy fortresses, each with its own challenges. Line of sight is calculated by hex distance, requiring careful planning to avoid surprise attacks from distant creatures. Variable setup means that before each campaign you shuffle event and mission cards, ensuring no game is predictable. The game also offers a cooperative mode where two players can control different heroes, though the focus remains solo. Components include four hero miniatures, 48 terrain tiles, 96 action cards, 96 event cards, three six‑sided dice, and a compact rulebook. Designed to be accessible, the game still provides enough strategic depth to keep experienced players engaged.
