About the game

What you do in a play session

If you enjoy a solid roll-and-write that makes your brain work just the right amount, Splitter is an excellent choice. The premise is simple, but the challenge is constant: you have a sheet with 44 empty spaces and need to group identical numbers to score. The twist? Symmetry. Every time the dice are rolled, you must write both results in mirrored spaces on your board. If you place a '1' in the far-left spot, the other die automatically goes to the far-right spot. It's this small detail that turns the game into a delightful spatial puzzle.

The goal is to form groups of identical numbers (two 2s, three 3s, and so on), but there's a catch: if you place identical numbers orthogonally adjacent, the group is invalidated. Scoring is straightforward—a group of six 6s is worth 6 points, for example—but you need to be strategic. There are starred spaces that double the points of a group, and one of the boards even includes hearts that grant extra bonuses if you fill them with the same value. With 22 dice rolls, the game flows quickly, is easy to explain, and works incredibly well for large groups since everyone plays simultaneously.

Splitter doesn't try to be a three-hour epic; it's the perfect filler to start or end your game night. The feeling of filling out your sheet and seeing your plan come together (or crumble due to a bad roll) is addictive. It's a game that requires no complex setup, takes up little table space, and is perfect for those who enjoy optimizing every turn. If you're looking for something light, fast, and with that 'just one more game' appeal, Splitter will definitely find a permanent spot in your collection.
