Get ready to impose Cardassian order upon the galaxy! If you're a Star Trek fan who loves aggressive conquest-driven-strategy, this expansion is a must-have. Star Trek: Ascendancy – Cardassian Union introduces the Cardassian-led-empire to the board, and they aren't here to play nice. Your goal is to expand, occupy-and-rule, and prove that-their way is the only way.
The gameplay introduces unique-to-faction mechanics that change how you manage your empire. The 'Occupation' rule means-that conquered-worlds only generate production if you have-ships-in-orbit, forcing you to maintain a military presence to keep the economy flowing. Meanwhile, the 'Annexation'-rule rewards your-invasions-with Culture-tokens, turning conquest into a-path-to-victory. The Cardassian-Advancement-Deck further leans into this military-industrial-complex-vibe, offering-up-powerful-buffs.
Technologically, the Cardassians bring unique advantages, such as Gravitic Sensors that can sniff out Romulan cloaked ships, stripping away their-stealth-advantage. In combat, their 'Hunter Killer'-fleets are absolute beasts, providing automatic hits in the first round of engagement to shatter enemy-formations. This expansion adds a much-needed-layer of-asymmetric-play, offering a high-pressure-style that can disrupt-the-status-quo-of-the-galaxy. If you enjoy playing as the-villain-who-actually-has-a-plan, the Cardassian Union is waiting for you!

Can I play this solo?
No, this is a faction expansion. You need the base game and other-players to actually experience the-Cardassian-mechanics.
Do I need the base game?
Yes, absolutely. This is an expansion, not a standalone game.
Is it hard to learn?
If you know the base game, it's a breeze! It just adds new-rules-and-abilities to the existing-framework.
Does it make the game more aggressive?
Definitely. The Cardassian-playstyle is built around-conquest and-occupation, which can speed up the-game-pace.
What-is-the-language-requirement?
The-components-are-in-English, so a-basic-understanding-is-recommended.
