About the game
What you do in a play session
Street Masters: Legend of Oni arrives as the Kickstarter‑only expansion that adds a new demonic boss, four brand‑new stages, and a storyline steeped in the cursed mountain’s ancient lore. The plot follows Yokai, a fire‑born, mysterious warrior who commands the Yurei Ninja clan and the enigmatic Kitsune – the legendary nine‑tailed fox in flesh – as they seek to claim a primal energy hidden atop the mountain. Players, as Global Gladiators, must stop the prophecy from unfolding, battling ninjas, kitsunes, and the fearsome Oni.
The mechanics stay true to Street Masters’ core: deck, bag and pool building, dice rolling, hex‑grid movement and hand management, all in a cooperative framework. Each game begins with an open draft of enemy and ability cards, letting the group tailor a deck for each stage. Modular double‑sided map tiles create ever‑changing paths, ensuring high replay value.
Components are top‑notch: detailed miniatures of the Oni, Shin Oni and ten Yurei ninjas, plus five Kitsune figures. An 84‑card Stage Deck and a 21‑card Enemy Deck provide diverse encounters, while tokens and story‑mode cards support a campaign feel. The rulebook is clear, though a translation sheet is handy for non‑English speakers.
Playtime ranges from 30 to 120 minutes, accommodating short sessions or epic marathons, for 1‑4 players, solo included. With a 3/5 weight, the learning curve is moderate—perfect for those familiar with the base game but still approachable for curious newcomers. In short, Legend of Oni expands the Street Masters universe with deeper strategy, richer narrative, and impressive miniatures, while preserving the cooperative spirit fans love.
